Síbová, Monika ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Brázová, Kateřina (referee)
Population development in the Netherlands at NUTS 1 regional level Abstract The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the population development in the Netherlands at the level of NUTS 1 regions in the period 1990-2020. The analysis of population development is based on the comparison of indicators of age structure, fertility, and mortality. The work includes a description of the population development between 1950-1990 and also includes an outline of the historical and social context that determined the country's population development. The work aims to evaluate whether and or how these factors had an impact on the population development of the country and individual NUTS 1 regions. Growing genetically modified crops in the world
Herodesová, Adéla ; Jančák, Vít (advisor) ; Eretová, Veronika (referee)
The bachelor thesis analyses the regional differentiation of genetically modified crops' cultivation in each country's territorial breakdown. The thesis defines basic technical terms, biotechnological breeding history, and the classification of genetically modified crops according to the modified traits. Emphasis is placed on national attitudes towards the use of this biotechnology in agriculture and the resulting legislation. It is shown that legislation has a major impact on the cultivation of genetically modified crops. In particular, the thesis compares the legislative approach between the European Union and the USA, which differs significantly. A closer look is devoted to the cultivation of genetically modified crops in Czechia. Selected factors (organic farming, farm size structure, and nutritional deficiencies) that may be related to the cultivation of genetically modified crops in each country are examined based on graphs and maps generated from secondary data. The results are discussed with relevant literature. Keywords: GMO, genetically modified crops, regional differentiation, legislation, agriculture
Geodemographic aspects of the take-up, provision, and availability of the selected healthcare services in Czechia
Brázová, Kateřina
Geodemographic aspects of the take-up, provision, and availability of the selected healthcare services in Czechia Abstract This work focuses on finding connections and monitoring differences in the area of take-up, provision, and availability of the selected health services in Czechia, especially from a geodemographic point of view. The main goal is to describe and evaluate the influence of basic demographic aspects, age and sex, on take-up, provision, and availability of health services, and also to clarify regional differences. This issue has so far been studied relatively limited in the Czech environment. The work mainly concerns the segment of outpatient care, which is an irreplaceable component of the healthcare system, namely specializations of general practice, outpatient diabetology, cardiology, and psychiatry. Particularly data from the General Health Insurance Company of the Czech Republic (VZP ČR) were used, which contained detailed anonymised information on take-up, provision and availability of health services. Based on these data, methods of a quantitative character were applied. The findings confirm global trends and also offer new insights for further examination of the issue. Keywords: health services, physicians, patients, age structure, demographic ageing, regional differences, Czechia
Determinants of Regional Differentiation of Mortality in the Czech Republic
Pachlová, Tereza
Determinants of Regional Differentiation of Mortality in the Czech Republic Abstract There are considerable differences in socioeconomic and sociodemographic factors influencing mortality on the individual and also on the aggregate levels. These differences were observed and explained in many countries of the world. The objective of this thesis is to find and evaluate the most significant external factors which influence actual regional differentiation of mortality in districts of the Czech Republic. The objective was achieved by means of the demographic and statistical analysis methods. First, there was a comparison of mortality rates calculated for each of the socioeconomic clusters. It was found out that higher mortality rates appeared among men and women living in the districts with unfavourable external conditions. Using the Poisson log-linear model, the most important factors influencing differences in mortality rates in districts of the Czech Republic were identified. These factors are: share of the unemployed, share of the divorced, share of university-educated people and the number of physicans in hospitals per 1000 inhabitants. Share of the unemployed seems to be the most significant factor. There is a correlation between this factor and the total mortality rate as well as the leading causes of...

Political and regional differentiation of Serbia in the case of the entering EU
Cvetkovićová, Katarina ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Martínek, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the regional differentiation in Serbia with regards to the question of the country's accession to the European Union (EU). The analysis is based on a voting preferences of pro-European or Eurosceptic political parties and leaders. The prerequisite is a north-south polarization of these preferences correlating with socio-economic maturity of the region. Thesis uses electoral geography to determine if this correlation exists and if so, how stable it is in the time period. The first part of the thesis discusses a general theory of regional differentiation of electoral results, the emergence and development of nationalism in Serbia and Serbia's relations and cooperation with the EU. The second part of the thesis attempts to provide an objective image of the Serbian political scene, its electoral history and main political affairs. These two parts, in which the thematic literature is discussed, serve as a theoretical framework for the third part of the thesis which deals with the analysis of electoral results in socio-economic frame and also contains a discussion of the results of correlation. Key words Serbia, electoral preferences, regional differentiation, European Union
Demographic aging by standard and alternative indicators in selected countries of Europe and their regional differentiation at NUTS2 level
Klapková, Michaela ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
Demographic aging by standard and alternative indicators in selected countries of Europe and their regional differentiation at NUTS2 level Abstract Demographic aging is often called a phenomenon of the 21st century. However, it is a natural process, which we more or less consciously influence. Population aging is the result of improving the health status of the population and enhancing the quality of human life that has already begun in the 18th century in the context of demographic revolution. The current concern about the sustainability of national social systems in the context of population aging are obviously reasonable, but these concerns are based on the standard characteristics of the age structure, which often use a fixed age of entry into the final stage of life. However, with the lengthening of human life the natural boundaries of old age changes. Alternative indicators on the basis of the concept of prospective age do not use the number of years a person has already lived, but on the number of years that a person will probably live. Paper compares the development of standard and alternative indicators in the Czech Republic, Sweden and Germany in the years 2000-2013 and focuses also on regional differentiation at the NUTS2 level of selected regions in northern, western, eastern and southern...
